At first, the abundance of the military frightens, then you get used to it: a review about a vacation in Venezuela

A reader of “Subtleties” NaTaTa talked about how she spent her vacation on the other side of the planet – the sunny island of Margarita in Venezuela. “Of course, we heard many stories from others about dangers, robberies, convoys and guards. But when friends returned, told all the pluses, showed photos, we decided to book a tour. Meals were considered only all-inclusive, 5 * hotels with Russian-speaking staff.

About excursions

On the first tour of Margarita Island, we went from a tour operator. I liked everything, but I think the guides are unnecessarily intimidating tourists, not giving them the opportunity to walk on their own. For several days we left the hotel ourselves, looked around, talked with the guards, found out how and where to go and see the surroundings and sights. On the fifth day, we decided to take a taxi to Pampatar, walked on the city beach. Of course, it is impossible to swim there, but it is interesting to observe the atmosphere, huge pelicans walk along the beach. We reached the castle of San Carlos de Borromeo.

Before leaving, we have already settled in

They freely mastered ordering a taxi (by the way, they don’t take money for waiting here, if you need to wait, just tell me). We went to local restaurants, bought souvenirs and even bargained. Yes, there are really a lot of guards and soldiers on the streets, at first it is alarming, frightening, and then you get used to it. For example, a policeman may come up to you and ask what hotel you are from and where you are going to go, what time to return to the hotel. Or taxis on the road can stop and check your documents.1/1
