For British Airways , which currently occupies Terminal 7, the move is a confirmation of its transatlantic ties to American. Together, the Oneworld partners have invested approximately $400 million to renovate the terminal. It was announced in February 2019, a few days before the pandemic was declared.
The new haven will feature five gates for wide-body aircraft, three lounges with a new Champagne bar, and a premium check-in area.
British Airways has set a two-week transition period starting in mid-November. The airline believes that it will be possible to fully transfer operations to the new terminal by early December.
British move — just the first part of a $13 billion global renovation of the iconic airport. It is planned to be completed by the middle of the decade. According to these ambitious plans, the old abode of British Airways — terminal 7 — will eventually be demolished and replaced by a new Terminal 6.
So, next month, BA passengers will have easier connections to countries across the Atlantic, which means more than 30 destinations across the US, the Caribbean and Latin America with American Airlines.
Note that British Airways has returned the Club World service. For the first time since the start of COVID-19, business class passengers can order personalized meals on board.
