The EU Commission recognized the COVID-19 certificates issued in Brazil

On October 15, Brazil was added to the list of countries whose COVID-19 certificates are accepted by Member States. European Union. The decision was published in a press release from the EU Commission.

“As a result, Brazil will be connected to the EU system and the EU will accept its certificates under the same conditions as the EU's own digital COVID-19 certificate. This means that holders of certificates issued by Brazil will be able to use them under the same conditions as holders of an EU digital certificate in the event that travel restrictions need to be reintroduced,” — noted in the press release.

It also states that as part of the agreement, the Brazilian government has also accepted EU digital certificates.

The latest agreements in this regard were reached in September with Albania, Andorra, Israel, Monaco, Morocco and Panama and the Faroe Islands, when the EU recognized the vaccination certificates of these countries.

EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders reported that the decision to recognize certificates issued in Brazil has increased the number of countries with which the EU has such an agreement to 76.

The EU covid certificate is issued to citizens who are fully vaccinated, those who have recovered from the virus in the last 180 days, as well as those who test negative for COVID-19. The certificate first came into effect in July 2020, during the peak of the coronavirus outbreak.
