About 300 brands take part in the festival. Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin visited one of the central sites in Gorky Park today.
According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, the products of the agro-industrial complex and the national cuisines of the peoples of Russia are in many ways unique and have no analogues in the world. Almost every region has its own distinctive food products. These are traditional and relatively young brands, including those created on the wave of import substitution and what is important — often small businesses.
In 2020-2021, the Ministry of Agriculture organized two national competitions “Tastes of Russia”, which received a powerful positive and truly popular response. Over two million people took part in the voting in two years. The competition allowed to significantly increase interest in local products, make them more recognizable and thereby create conditions for the further development of the entire direction.
“Our country has long been self-sufficient in the main types of products and continues to increase their output every year — not only for the Russian market, but also for export. At the same time, of course, not only volumes are important for consumers, but also the ability to choose from a wide range. Therefore, we will continue to support unique regional brands and help their manufacturers find their way to a mass buyer», — noted the minister.
The gastronomic festival, which takes place at 22 venues in the capital, will last until July 17. In addition to the fair, festival guests can visit the largest food court in the country, take part in creative, craft and culinary master classes and get to know the culture of the peoples of Russia.
Reference : project “Tastes of Russia” in the format of the festival is held for the first time. The festival will feature brands participating in the Tastes of Russia National Competition for Regional Food Brands, which was held in 2020 and 2021 to promote regional food brands and support small agribusiness.
The festival is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture Russian Federation with the support of the Government of Moscow.
