On July 4, 2023, the authorities of St. Petersburg adopted the Law on temporary introduction of a resort fee for guests of the northern capital. This law will be in force during the period 01.10.2023 – 12/31/2024.
Basics:
- Until March 31, 2024 inclusive, there will be a grace period during which the resort fee will be 0 rubles. The grace period will allow the hospitality industry to adapt documentation and reporting to new requirements.
- Starting April 01, 2024, a fee of 100 rubles per person per night will be charged for each day of stay at the hotel.
- Payment is taken at the time of check-in for the entire stay, the first night is not taken into account.
- A list of privileged categories of persons who will be exempted from paying this tax has been established. There are over 20 of them.
No resort and tax will be paid:
- persons working at enterprises or commercial structures of St. Petersburg (grounds for exemption – employment contract or contract);
- combatants;
- CBO members;
- large families;
- disabled and II groups;
- heroes of labor;
- schoolchildren and students under 24 years old, full-time students in educational institutions of St. Petersburg;
- and other categories.
According to the calculations of the administration of St. Petersburg, during the period of the law it will be possible to collect at least 310 million rubles. The money will be directed to the maintenance, reconstruction, repair and improvement of existing objects of the resort and tourist infrastructure of the city. As well as for the design and construction of new facilities.
Administrative liability is provided for non-payment.
