How not to go crazy in Antalya with children

So that the long-awaited family vacation with children does not turn into a real nightmare, it is necessary to take into account many nuances – from choosing the time of the trip and the place of residence to the issues of child nutrition and the list of available entertainment and excursions. The best time to relax with kids is September-October, when the summer heat subsides. June is suitable for school-age children – the sea water is already warm enough, but there is still no heat typical of July and August.

Where to stay

The choice lies between the Lara area with a long sandy beach east of the center of Antalya and the Konyaalti region in the west. It is there that the bulk of the resort hotels and apartments are concentrated.

Win-win option – “five” on the first line of the beach in Lara. They have well-groomed green areas, swimming pools, Russian-speaking staff, all-inclusive meals. Each has its own beach with a full range of water activities and lifeguards. The menu of restaurants and cafes has children's dishes. Playgrounds and clubs are available, and young guests are occupied by animators. If necessary, you can leave the child under the supervision of a nanny (for an additional fee). The price in season, however, is also rather big – from 1300 TRY per day for a double room.

A reasonable compromise is 4 * hotels in the Konyaalti area, a room in which costs from 650 TRY per day, and the service is almost as good as the “five”. All of them are separated from the sea by a wide avenue with underground passages under it. Thanks to small pebbles, the water on the Konyaalti beach is more transparent than in Lara. There are showers, changing rooms, toilets, water equipment rentals, beach cafes, and hotels have areas with free umbrellas and sunbeds. The undoubted advantage of the Konyaalti area is its proximity to the iconic places for children's entertainment – the water park, the oceanarium, the amusement park.

The cheapest apartments are apartments on the third line of Konyaalti beach at a price of 250 TRY per day, which allows you to stretch your vacation for a long time even with a limited budget. They are in demand among grandmothers with grandchildren who have come for the whole summer. That's just the beach will have to go 15-20 minutes and there to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas.

Where to go for fun

In Antalya's long list of family attractions, Aqualand water park enjoys special sympathy. Toddlers can splash in the paddling pool or take a ride on the Lazy River. For those who are older, there is a pool with artificial waves, a Kamikaze slide as high as a 10-story building, a Crazy River with rafting and other attractions. In the dolphinarium located on the territory of the water park, you can show performances with the participation of dolphins and seals.

Resembling a huge wave, the building of the aquarium is the world of the underwater inhabitants of the Mediterranean Sea. Behind the transparent walls of a long underwater tunnel, you can see sunken ships and the ruins of ancient palaces resting on the seabed. And then there is the “Snow World” with fluffy Christmas trees, Santa's house, ice slides and real snow. Here, visitors are given warm jackets, but you need to take care of suitable shoes yourself.

The entrance to the entertainment “Aktur Park” (off site on the tour) is made in the form of a fairy-tale castle. For the little ones – swings, carousels, trampolines, a race track, a children's railway. For those who are older and adults – adrenaline rides with roller coasters and centrifuges rotating in different planes. You can take a breath in the 5D cinema, and have a bite to eat in a cafe or a pastry shop. In large shopping centers – “Mark Antalya”, “Terra City”, “Migros M5” and others, there are cinemas with cartoons and clubs with animators.

Every year from June until late autumn, Lara Beach hosts an international festival of giant sand sculptures based on the Hollywood blockbusters Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, etc. They look especially beautiful in the evening, illuminated by hundreds of searchlights. For creative people, there is a large sandbox where everyone can try their hand at creating their own composition.
