Egyptian low-cost airline Air Cairo launched a weekly flight program from Budapest on the Red Sea coast to Hurghada — the second busiest airport in Egypt. If demand is stable, the frequency of flights is planned to be increased to twice a week from March 29, 2023. Thus, the number of seats on the route Budapest – Hurghada may increase by 173 percent.
Air Cairo operates flights to the African continent on 180-seat A320 and 110-seat E190 aircraft. Joining existing routes from Budapest to Cairo and Hurghada, the Egyptian low-cost carrier's new flights will bring seat capacity to Egypt to 40,000 by summer 2023.
Budapest Airport Development Director Balazs Bogat commented on the situation: ” ;After a hiatus of three years, it's good to see Air Cairo back in Budapest with another flight to the popular destination Hurghada. Our new partner will offer a fantastic opportunity to the ever-increasing number of Egyptian tourists, as well as allowing many European travelers to experience the stunning Red Sea coastline.”
