In Thailand The famous Maya Bay beach on Phi Phi Le Island in the Andaman Sea will be closed from August to September 2022. This was announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment of Thailand.
Located just a few hours from the popular island of Phuket in southern Thailand, Maya Bay Beach ( Maya Bay is one of the most famous places that is considered a must-see for a tourist. This picturesque cove with crystal clear waters surrounded by karst rocks became world famous thanks to the 2000 film The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Since then, the small island of Phi Phi Le has become a place of pilgrimage for tourists – until it was closed for reclamation in 2018. The long hiatus has helped restore marine ecology, resulting in a healthier coral reef and attracting black tip reef sharks. opened for tourists under the strict control of the authorities: it was required to book a visit, the duration of which did not exceed one hour. Swimming is strictly prohibited. Nearly 100,000 people have already visited the popular island location since its opening, generating more than 20 million baht in revenue for Thai tourism. Now the beach will be closed again, but only for 2 months.
