Over 417 tons of flowers will be transported by plane from Europe across the ocean

Residents of the United States traditionally turn to Europe for fresh vegetation, and not to Ecuador. This February, American will deliver 50 percent more flowers to — tulips and roses grown in Amsterdam, — compared to 2022. Valentine's Day deliveries began in early February.

“We're partnering with growers in Amsterdam to deliver locally produced flowers to the US. First they get to London Heathrow Airport and then across the Atlantic to get everything ready for Valentine's Day, — says American Regional Cargo Operations Manager Paul Allen. “This year we will deliver even more flowers from Dutch soil to homes across the US.”

To ensure the perfect quality of flowers, American Airlines Cargo maintains a cold chain in special cold storage from Amsterdam to London Heathrow Airport and on to the USA. This process keeps the flowers fresh all the way from the field to the stall.
