Alila Kothaifaru Maldives opened for guests in April.

This resort is built on a private island, just a 45-minute seaplane ride from Male, where the main international airport is located. The resort has 44 beach villas and 36 overwater villas. All rooms have a private pool and sundeck as well as a bathtub, indoor and outdoor showers and 24/7 personalized service.

During your stay at the resort you can visit several restaurants and bars. All-day Seasalt Beach Restaurant serves Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. Umami Japanese Restaurant with Teppanyaki Grill and Yakitori Bar serving Asian-inspired cocktails — perfect place for an evening meal. There's also Pibati Café for a bite to eat, as well as The Shack Restaurant for private picnics, sunset barbecues and candlelit dinners.

A true resort style hotel, Alila features a spa. a center with four double treatment rooms, a 24-hour fitness center and an infinity pool by the sea. 

Room rates start at $660 during the rainy season — from mid-May to November, and $900 from January to March.

Hilton's flagship brand has just opened a stunning new hotel in the Maldives: the Hilton Maldives Amangiri Resort & Spa. This is the fourth Hilton hotel in the country.

Male International Airport is only 20 minutes by speedboat and travelers don't have to worry about getting there by seaplane. And they won't go hungry either. The hotel has six bars and restaurants, including the Cocktail Lab, where experts hand-craft drinks to order, a beachfront snack bar, a champagne and gin bar, and a romantic gourmet restaurant serving organic seafood.

After dinner, guests can relax in one of the 109 beach and overwater villas. All have a pool and tub with ocean views. At the luxurious Amangiri Spa, we recommend trying a moisturizing body and face wrap. 

Today, a night in a one-bedroom overwater villa will cost $793, in high season, in January, prices jump to $1 $000 per night.

25 years after Conrad Maldives Rangali Island redefined holidaying in the Maldives, the iconic hotel has received a stunning update. There are new interiors for the overwater villas on the adults-only part of the island. The all-day buffet has been updated, as well as the Rangali bar and the open-air Vilu restaurant. New teen and kids clubs, a gym and a dive center have opened. And the spa center over the water was completely recreated.

Well, the most iconic places of the resort were saved. This is Muraka — the world's first underwater villa and Ithaa underwater restaurant.

Rent a villa on the beach during the low season for $779 per night. But closer to winter, prices will rise significantly — up to $1,600 per night for an overwater villa.
