From August 1, foreign tourists will be able to come to Russia on a single-entry electronic visa , it can also be issued by business travelers, participants of scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, sports events.

Electronic visa is available to foreign citizens from 55 countries, including Austria, Germany, Italy, China, North Korea, Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Iran and others. Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar were the last to be included in the list of states.

To obtain an electronic visa, you must fill out an application no later than four days before the expected date of entry on the specialized website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs https://electronic-visa.kdmid.ru/or through a mobile application. A digital photograph of the applicant and a scan of the page with the data of the machine-readable passport are attached to it. The consular fee will not exceed $52, and for children under 6 years old – $2.

A visa gives a foreign citizen the right to stay in Russia until the age of 16 days. The trip can be made on any dates within 60 days after its issuance, but the date of departure from Russia cannot be later than the 60th day from the moment the visa was issued.

Unified electronic visas will be valid for entry into Russia and exit from the country by air, road and water transport through checkpoints across the state border, the list of which is approved by government decree. It is assumed that there will be 100 checkpoints, this list includes, in particular, the international airports of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Vladikavkaz, Volgograd, Grozny, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk , Samara, Saratov, Sochi and many other cities.

For the convenience of transport companies – carriers, a special service has been created that allows you to verify that a passenger has issued e-visa.

In Russia, in July 2020, a law was adopted, according to which, from January 1, 2021, the issuance of electronic visas online for citizens of 52 countries, including the states of the European Union. In January 2021, the government delayed the launch of the e-visa system due to the coronavirus pandemic.
