The Russian government has approved a list of 19 states whose citizens can receive an ordinary tourist visa of the Russian Federation.
The following countries are on the list: Bahrain, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Iran, Cambodia, China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico , Myanmar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey, and the Philippines.
A visa will be issued after March 5 for up to six months on the basis of a hotel reservation included in the unified list of classified hotels, ski slopes, beaches.
The Decree of 16 February was published on the Legal Information Portal. The list of countries includes Iran, India, Turkey, from which the maximum number of tourists come to Russia now. In addition, it included China, which is promising for the resumption of the tourist flow, rich in wealthy tourists – Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman. There – Myanmar, where a delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development visited in December, traditionally friendly to us Serbia, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and other countries.
Theoretically, this decision simplifies independent tourism from these countries: after March 5, any Chinese, Persian or North Korean can book a hotel himself and go to Russia without resorting to the services of tour operators. But in practice, little will change, according to experts, large hotels have previously helped to open visas, since they have already received tour operator status specifically for this. In addition, foreign tourists, especially from countries such as China and India, tend to travel in groups and book a itinerary through Russia rather than a hotel.
What the travel industry is really looking forward to is the implementation of the president's order to launch electronic visas for foreigners. The Russian Foreign Ministry initially promised to present its proposals by the end of 2022. Then – by January 31, but there is still no specifics in the public space.
