Free transit is available only to holders of residence permits of some countries
From October 6, Russians will not be able to transit at UK airports without a visa. Previously, this opportunity was available to passengers traveling through the airports of Manchester, Heathrow and Gatwick, where they did not need to leave the transit area when making a transfer. The new rules will not affect tourists who purchased tickets before September 8 for flights before October 6.
As before, free transit is available to Canadian residence permit holders , Australia, USA, New Zealand, European Economic Area or Switzerland. Other Russian citizens will have to apply for a transit visa. The full list of exceptions is published on the Kingdom's official information website.
