Chinese Consulate in Russia announced the transition to biometric visas

The Chinese diplomatic mission in Russia announced the transition to biometric visas. At the moment, a message about the new rules, which will come into force on July 17, has been published on the website of the diplomatic mission in Irkutsk. In connection with the transition to the new system, after filling out an online application form and making an appointment, applicants from 14 to 70 years old must personally come to the Consulate General and be fingerprinted.

The following categories of persons are exempt from giving fingerprints:

1. Persons under the age of 14 or over 70 years;

2. Persons holding diplomatic passports or meeting conditions for issuing diplomatic service or service visas or courtesy visas;

3. Persons whose fingerprints have been preserved in the same passport for five years, subject to the presentation of a previously issued visa with a biometric sticker issued within five years;

4. Persons who have all ten fingers damaged or who do not have the physical opportunity to give fingerprints of papillary patterns of all ten fingers.

General The “Consulate” of the PRC in Irkutsk reserves the right to interpret the above provisions and specific circumstances.

The plan to switch to biometric visas was announced at the end of 2021, but at that time the Celestial Empire was closed and did not issue documents. At the moment, there are no new requirements for the delivery of biometrics either on the website of the Chinese Embassy, or on the resources of other consulates, except for Irkutsk. Most likely, the transition to the new format will take place at the same time, just the representative office in Irkutsk informed the applicants before the others.
