They won’t even pour boiling water just like that: a review of the “Chelyabinsk Maldives”

Georgy Kovalev, a reader of the “Subtleties of Tourism”, visited the “Chelyabinsk Maldives” – Lake Uvildy. This largest reservoir in the Urals reaches a depth of 40 m and is considered one of the most beautiful places in the region. Indeed, if you believe the photographs of local sandy beaches, it is surprisingly picturesque and somewhat similar to the islands in the Indian Ocean. “You shouldn't be surprised that there are tourist camps on the shore of the lake. In this review, we will focus on the RosNITI campground, ”says the traveler.

Saving the heat

July 2023 was the hottest in the history of observations in Yekaterinburg, the thermometer exceeded +40 °C. At the same time, the main problem of the industrial capital of the Urals is the lack of places for outdoor recreation on weekends: officially, there is not a single reservoir suitable for swimming in the vicinity of the metropolis. Of course, this does not stop residents from visiting the same Shartash, but in such heat, car owners go towards the Chelyabinsk region, where there are several dozen lakes with clean water. We went there too.

Towards adventure

This time, at the family council, it was decided to go to Lake Uvildy, and the choice fell on the recreation center “RosNITI”. Social networks played an important role in making this decision: beautiful photos, the availability of infrastructure (it was possible to stay in houses or tents), stable mobile Internet (hello to remote workers). We decided to stay at the campsite – the cost was 1500 RUB per place.

And then came the exciting day of fees. The journey from Yekaterinburg to Lake Uvildy took almost 3 hours. The road is good, there are shops and gas stations. The child endured the trip calmly.

Reality

Let's start with the pros. Of course, it is impossible not to mention the clear water and sandy beach, now it is clear why the locals compare Uvildy with the Maldives.

The presence of beautiful photographs after a holiday in the profile of a banned social network is ensured, and young people flaunt at SUP boards.

By the way, catamaran rental is announced here, but I did not see it. If you sail to the other side, you find yourself in the forest, the territory of the base is fenced. The entrance to the water is good, suitable for children who cannot swim, to dive, you have to walk 100 meters. There are no stones, the only thing that upset was a dead fish lying on the beach. Pets are not allowed on the beach, and bonfires are also prohibited.

There is a burger joint on the territory of RosNITI, the prices are comparable to those in the city, but this did not surprise me – rent here is clearly not cheap. However, placing an order on a weekend is problematic, you will have to wait at least an hour. In the morning you can eat porridge for 300 RUB, it is better to pay in small bills – there may be no change.

In the store, for a fee, they can put a gadget on charge (the feeling that I was transferred to the train 20 years ago).

They just don’t pour boiling water – pay as for the cost of instant noodles. I have not seen this approach anywhere. It's good that there is a cashless payment. 1/1

Problems

One of the main problems of the camp site is the queue for the toilet. You have to stand in a long line to get to the restroom. About the cleanliness and availability of toilet paper, I will keep silent. The declared playground looks sad – a couple of horizontal bars and a swing, everything is old, the “ship” is broken. Most of the houses, apparently built during the years of Soviet power, look the same. Why pay such money for them (they said that 15,000 RUB), I don’t understand. Is it just for the opportunity to charge the phone for free.

A separate story – the campground itself

In social networks, the availability of 300 places is announced, by the evening the density of vacationers is off scale. The workers don’t really follow anyone, right in front of us one couple is located almost on the playground, people wander from one place to another.

The lack of any control leads to a kind of anarchy in the evenings: a lot of drunks, obscene vocabulary is heard from different sides, bonfires are burning.

Each inhabitant of the tent tends to turn on the music louder: on family vacations with young children, I would not be here counted. 1/1

Will we go to Uvilda again?

Uvilda is worth a visit just for the beautiful nature, clean air, clear water and sandy beach. As for the services, it seems that the staff is ready to engage in a banal collection of money from vacationers, but is not going to provide services that are provided at other recreation centers. Will I strive to visit RosNITI again? Definitely not, since there are enough other reservoirs in the Chelyabinsk region. Having already left the base, we found out that against the backdrop of a rush with recreation near water bodies, the administration increased the cost of accommodation. For one tent on a day off, now you have to pay 2500 RUB.
